OLD TRINITY: 12.9.81
OLD SCOTCH: 9.14.68
The Men’s 1st XVIII were keen to atone for last Saturday’s inconsistent performance and came out hard in the first quarter. Kicking with the aid of a strong breeze we failed to apply any meaningful scoreboard pressure on Old Trinity, only kicking 6 behinds while they managed two goals into it. Old Trinity worked their way on top in the second quarter, but we managed to score two goals into the breeze to remain within striking distance at half time.
Our best period of the match was the ten minutes after half time as we scored successive goals to draw level with Old Trinity, but to their credit they kicked six goals to five to be a handy 21 points up at three quarter time. We asked a lot of questions of the visitors in the final term but couldn’t capitalize on the time the ball spent in our forward line. A goal against the trend of play to old Trinity wrapped up the game for them and we finished 13 points in arrears despite having more scoring shots.
