OLD SCOTCH: 12.12.84
This week saw Old Scotch travel to Caulfield’s home ground to take on the number 2 team in the competition. A win on the day would cement a position at top place on the ladder and give us a two game buffer between us and second place. Kicking the dew off the ground with a 9:20 start, the boys rolled into the ground looking and feeling fresh to make it a 3 win 0 lose start to the season. From the first bounce it looks like it was going to be a tough game as both teams remained goalless for nearly the first half of the quarter. Once the first goal was scored by Old Scotch, the margin started to be stretched and the boys came into quarter time with around a 3 goal lead. The second quarter saw Old Scotch stretch their quarter time lead with the half time score reading, Caulfield 2.2.14 to Scotch 6.2.38. Once the score had been extended, there seemed to be no turning back for Scotch as they continued to stretch the lead further and further throughout the duration of the second half. Big performances form Hugh Longbottom in the back and Noah Croes, Charlie Cormack and Fred Osborn in the centre aided Scotch to a big round three win with the end score reading Caulfield 5.9. 39 to Scotch 12.12. 84.
