THIRDS TOO STRONG AGAINST OLD XAVS AND U19's PREMIER BOUNCE BACK WITH BIG WIN OVER BEAUMARIS
The highlight of Saturday’s round of matches was undoubtedly the men’s 3rd XVIII win against Old Xaverians. Playing away the two sides couldn’t be separated at half time, but a two goal to nil third quarter gave us the ascendancy at three quarter time. The boys withstood a strong challenge in the final quarter to win by eight points, further cementing their position in the top four and giving hope for a top two finish.
Another promising result was the response from the Men’s Under 19 Premier team. Having lost the last two games, the boys responded with an emphatic performance against Beaumaris at McQueen Park. After a tight first quarter the boys put the foot down to extend their lead at every break, eventually winning by 61 points. After a long stint on the sidelines with injury it was great seeing Seb Fernandez make his debut in the cardinal, gold and blue and we look forward to seeing him represent the club for years to come. Old Carey’s Under 19 team was too strong for our Under 19 reserves team, romping home by 69 points. To the boys absolute credit they kept at it throughout the match.
