The Old Scotch Football Club is delighted to announce Dean Anderson as Senior Coach of the Old Scotch Stars, a key appointment in our Women’s football program for 2022.

Dean boasts a life-time involvement in Australian Rules football as a player, coach, parent and sporting administrator. Dean played 83 games for the Hawthorn Football Club which included two VFL/AFL premierships (1989 & 1991) and 67 games with St. Kilda Football Club, a total of 150 VFL/AFL games, kicking 100 goals. Dean represented Victoria in State of Origin twice and Australia vs Ireland in an Irish Gaelic football series.

Dean is currently a Board member at the St. Kilda Football Club with a wide range of responsibilities, including being the Football Director, which incorporates the AFLW space. 

Dean is well known at the Old Scotch Football Club and in the VAFA, having coached our Men’s’ 1st XVIII for three years, chalking up appearances in three finals series. Dean coached Caulfield Grammarians, taking the Club from ‘E’ to ‘C’ section, including premierships along the way. Dean coached the VAFA representative team for five years. He coached more than 150 kids at Hawthorn Citizens and Boroondara Hawks in the Yarra Junior Football League, which was a real highlight for him, spanning 10 years.

Married to Fiona and father of three children, Bella, Noah & Luca, all of whom play football, Dean is well equipped and ready to seamlessly slot into the Old Scotch Women’s Football program. We welcome Dean, Fiona and the Anderson family back to the Old Scotch Football Club.

Speaking to Dean today he said how much he was looking forward to getting back to the club. “I am delighted to be appointed to head up the coaching of the Stars & Sharks in what is an exciting women’s football program. My previous experience with the club as Men’s Senior Coach was rewarding and I am looking forward to being involved with this great club again. The women’s coaching role is exciting for me. I have a passion for coaching, a deep connection to Old Scotch, strong insights and interest in the development of women’s football.”
