MARK GNATT RE-SIGNS WITH CARDINALS

The Old Scotch Football Club is delighted to announce that Mark Gnatt has been reappointed as our Men’s Senior Coach for the 2023 season. The senior group is young in age and games played at the top level. We are very excited to see where Mark can take this young group in 2023, being an excellent relationships coach, amongst his other attributes.

Mark has coached many of this playing group in a successful under 19s era. In 2017 Mark took over the under 19 premier team during the season. In 2018 he coached the team to a Grand Final, finishing runners-up. In 2019 Mark took the team all the way to the VAFA under 19 Premier Section premiership, our first since 1952.

Mark was appointed to the role of Men’s senior coach in 2020, where there was no football due to the COVID pandemic. Mark used this opportunity to put his stamp on the playing group when they were able to train and spend time together. In 2021 Mark continued to build the group however again the COVID pandemic cut the season short. In 2022 it was the clubs best performance in Men’s Premier ‘A’ section since 2014, winning 8 games and finishing in 6th position.

Mark leads a strong coaching and off-field support team, going into his 4th season in 2023. The club is confident Mark can take us further, coming off the recent build under his great leadership. Speaking to Mark today he said “I am extremely humbled and honoured to continue leading the club. We have really focussed on creating a positive culture and this has allowed the playing group to develop and enjoy playing their footy together. Although we have made some great progress this season, there is a lot of hard work ahead of us if we are to consistently challenge the top sides and we look forward to this opportunity.”

We wish Mark Gnatt, his coaching staff and players all the best for 2023.
