VALE AL NICHOLLS – OSFC LIFE MEMBER

In 1963, Alan Nicholls was recruited from Scotch College as a Juniors player, debuting in our Seniors on 16 May 1964.  He went on to play a then record 269 games with the Old Scotch Collegians Football Club from 1963 – 1978, playing in the number “22” jumper. He played in our 1964 Reserves premiership team coached by Arthur Marshall.

In 1965, Al played 18 games with our 1965 Seniors premiership team coached by Don Howell but was not selected in the grand final team, and in 1970, he played 12 games with our Seniors premiership team coached by David Kidd. Al was awarded Life Membership of the club in 1974 upon playing 200 games for the club.

Al was a versatile player who played in most positions during his career, but predominantly on the back line at full back.  Al retired after the 1978 season.

Alan died on 25 October 2022, he was 78 years old.
