Vale Allen Morris

The Old Scotch Football Club is saddened to report that Life Member Allen Morris passed away peacefully on Christmas Eve, aged 89.  Allen had a very significant influence on the growth of our club.

In 1952, Allen was recruited from Scotch College.  He played 148 games with the Old Scotch Collegians Football Club from 1952 – 1962, playing in the number “24” jumper.  He started playing in our first Juniors premiership team of 1952 and was vice-captain, and later debuted in our Seniors on 3 May 1952.

In 1953, together with his brother Ralph, they started, published and mailed out the weekly OSCFC “Drumsheet” newsletter.

In 1955 & 1956, Allen captained the Old Scotch Collegians Football Club and was the club’s Best & Fairest in 1957.  He was a Victorian State Representative in 1959 & 1960.

Allen was also instrumental in establishing both our Reserves team in 1958 and our Warriors (Thirds) team in 1961.  He coached our Juniors team in 1961 and our Warriors team in 1962 – 1964 & 1966.

Allen’s role in the fundraising campaign in 1968 to fund the club’s new social room with kitchen facilities was pivotal to its success.  Allen was awarded Life Membership of the club in 1970.

Allen is the older brother of former OSCFC player and fellow OSCFC Life Member Ralph Morris (played 1952 – 1963).
